Adam Lambert is every bookie’s pick for this year’s American Idol winner, which helps explain why he’s already on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. But his non-answer to the speculation about his personal life inside suggests he’s aware that his homoerotic photos and Burning Man appearances could pull conservatives towards Christian competitors Danny Gokey and Kris Allen.

Despite the increasing intensity of anti-Lambert material on the web, the singer got a hero’s welcome during his “hometown visit” in San Diego today, where he spoke with high school students, visited his old drama and music teachers and inspired a mob scene outside of a radio station. Whether or not the rumors keep him from winning, there’s no doubt that Lambert is already a star.

My first thought is to Stef. Listen, American Idol is about finding people in America who has talent, despite what is going on in their personal life. I’m pretty sure they do background checks on their top picks, and wouldn’t let a rapist on the show. Do your research sweetheart. Now about Adam, if he is gay, so what? He’s a great singer and the fact that he could possibly be gay shouldn’t eclipse the fact that he has talent. Real talent. I’m pretty sure a lot of people will agree with me when I say that Adam is a great singer and will go on to do great things, despite the rumors about his personal life.

Stef, sweetheart, I’m pretty sure that American Idol does background checks on the contestants, and would never let a rapist on the show. It’s common sense, something that you seem to be lacking in that comment of yours. And you shouldn’t call it repulsive. If he is gay or straight, who cares? He’s only being what God made him to be. And the boy has amazing talent. The fact that he could be gay should not eclipse the fact that he has God-given talent.

It’s not like he’s the only gay person in the world, lay off of him. It doesn’t make him any less good of a singer, which is what this competition is about, if I’m not mistaken. He can sing amazingly, who cares who he’s attracted to.

I am a huge Adam Lambert fan, I voted for him last night, had 2 cell phones going….I love his singing and could not have been more thrilled to see him on stage with KISS. This is most definitely a SINGING competition but he made a comment saying he knows who he is and is honest. If he is gay….why not just answer the question honestly. The entertainment industry is very “gay friendly”. Kris Allen and Danny Gockey are Christian worship leaders who were open about that. Being a Christian is not as readily accepted in the entertainment industry. I would think it more critical for their career that Kris and Danny keep their faith a secret than for Adam to keep his sexuality a secret. Him not answering the questions leads me to believe he is either not proud of who he is or is hiding it. Either way, be who you are and be proud of that!

I agreed…. this country is messed up, and you just demonstrated that by being so intolerant that you placed being gay and being a rapist into the same catagory. Ignorant. Hurtful. Just plan s*****. I think both Kris and Adam are extremely talented, but if Adam’s sexuality contributed at all to his second place finish voters should be ashamed of themselves.

Well I think Adam is a GREAT SINGER. I thought 100% that Adam was going to win! I also heard that he didn’t win because many believed that Adam would make it successful no matter what, but I think that is wrong.
